## Choose a material

### Glass, silica and microsphere powders

Borosilicate glass, quartz and hollow glass microspheres have different structures and process roles. Include the composition and particle form in the request.

#### Borosilicate glass powder

borosilicate glass powder (SiO2-B2O3 glass family; exact composition is grade-specific)

Multi-component glass

### Calcium-phosphate and bioactive-glass research

Keep hydroxyapatite (HA), tricalcium phosphate (TCP) and 45S5 glass separate. Phase and composition evidence support material comparison; regulated-use qualification needs its own brief.

#### Hydroxyapatite powder

hydroxyapatite (HAp; Ca10(PO4)6(OH)2) bioceramic powder

[Selection guide](<https://powdchem.com/products/ceramic-powders/glass-phosphate-ceramics/#group-2>) [Ask about this material](<https://powdchem.com/request-a-quote/?material=Hydroxyapatite+powder+%28Ca10%28PO4%296%28OH%292%29>)

Ca10(PO4)6(OH)2

#### Tricalcium phosphate powder

tricalcium phosphate (TCP; Ca3(PO4)2) bioceramic powder

[Selection guide](<https://powdchem.com/products/ceramic-powders/glass-phosphate-ceramics/#group-2>) [Ask about this material](<https://powdchem.com/request-a-quote/?material=Tricalcium+phosphate+powder+%28Ca3%28PO4%292%29>)

## Material selection guide

Start with the material identity and process, then check the details on the proposed datasheet.

**Composition & phase**

Separate glass, partially crystalline glass-ceramic and crystalline phosphate powders. Multi-component glasses do not have one universal chemical formula.

**Thermal & particle profile**

State the particle distribution, softening/firing requirements and relevant expansion or thermal data and methods.

**Application scope**

Describe sealing, co-firing, coating, composite or research use. A biomedical research material listing does not imply device approval or clinical suitability.

## Before you choose

**Can a glass name replace its composition and thermal brief?**

It cannot establish compatibility with a substrate or firing route. Identify the glass family, relevant composition and processing window before comparing options.

**What does this directory cover?**

Glass beads, microspheres, frits and loose powders are identified by their actual form. Finished glass and medical devices are not powder-supply claims.

## What to include in your request

A material name or reference datasheet is enough to start. Add any requirements you already know.

- Glass/composition family or phosphate formula
- Particle distribution and physical form
- Thermal requirements and test methods
- Intended application and evaluation documents

### Quantity, samples and documents

Nike has no fixed minimum order. Tell us the quantity you need; we’ll check supplier pack sizes and any minimums.

We’ll check the proposed grade, sample options, delivery timing and available batch documents. Include any essential COA, TDS or SDS requirements.
