## Choose a material

### Yttria-stabilized zirconia

Identify the 3Y, 5Y or 8YSZ requirement and state whether the stabilizer content is expressed in mol% or wt%. Compare loose powder and granulated pressing feed separately.

#### 3Y-TZP zirconia powder

3Y-TZP powder (3 mol% yttria-stabilized zirconia; verify grade convention)

### Other stabilized zirconias

Choose magnesia or calcia stabilization, then the composition and phase criteria. Use the intended forming and firing process to define particle requirements.

#### Magnesia-stabilized zirconia powder

magnesia-stabilized zirconia powder (MgO-ZrO2; Mg-PSZ only when grade confirms)

[Selection guide](<https://powdchem.com/products/ceramic-powders/stabilized-zirconia-mixed-oxides/#group-2>) [Ask about this material](<https://powdchem.com/request-a-quote/?material=Magnesia-stabilized+zirconia+powder+%28ZrO2-MgO+system%29>)

## Material selection guide

Start with the material identity and process, then check the details on the proposed datasheet.

**Composition & basis**

Identify yttria, magnesia, calcia or the intended mixed-oxide system. State whether stabilizer content is reported in mol% or wt%.

**Phase & feedstock form**

Distinguish a loose fine powder, spray-dried granule and prepared feedstock. Define the phase or phase evidence required.

**Processing window**

Discuss particle distribution, binder/additives and the intended forming and firing route. Request data applicable to the candidate grade.

## Before you choose

**Can two grades called YSZ be treated as interchangeable?**

YSZ describes a family. Stabilizer content, phase, particle profile and additives can differ. Match the complete grade and processing brief before comparing options.

**What does this directory cover?**

ZTA, ATZ and other mixed oxides retain their own identities. Thermal-spray feedstock needs process-specific checks in the spray-powder directory.

## What to include in your request

A material name or reference datasheet is enough to start. Add any requirements you already know.

- Stabilizer chemistry and mol%/wt% basis
- Target phase and additive/binder status
- Loose powder or granulated feedstock
- Particle profile and forming/firing route

### Quantity, samples and documents

Nike has no fixed minimum order. Tell us the quantity you need; we’ll check supplier pack sizes and any minimums.

We’ll check the proposed grade, sample options, delivery timing and available batch documents. Include any essential COA, TDS or SDS requirements.
