MAX Phases

Layered MAX-phase powders for ceramic research and MXene precursor studies. Define the full M–A–X composition and the phase evidence you need.

Choose a material

Titanium carbide MAX phases

Ti3AlC2, Ti2AlC and Ti3SiC2 have different M-A-X compositions. For precursor work, identify the intended conversion and the phase evidence required.

Other MAX compositions

Keep the complete formula, including C or N. For bulk-ceramic work, compare particle size and secondary-phase limits against the pressing and sintering process.

Material selection guide

Start with the material identity and process, then check the details on the proposed datasheet.

Phase identity

Use the complete formula, rather than a MAX-family label alone. State the target phase and limits for secondary phases.

Powder profile

Describe the particle distribution, morphology, oxygen and impurity limits appropriate to pressing, sintering or precursor use.

Downstream process

A material intended for etching may need a different phase-purity and particle specification from a bulk-ceramic feedstock.

Before you choose

Does a MAX formula establish suitability as a MXene precursor?

No. Phase content, particle profile and oxidation state also need to fit the intended conversion process. Request evidence tied to the candidate grade or lot.

What does this directory cover?

Exfoliated MXenes are listed separately. Elemental mixtures and ordinary carbide or nitride powders are not labelled MAX phases.

What to include in your request

A material name or reference datasheet is enough to start. Add any requirements you already know.

  • Complete MAX formula and target phase
  • Phase/secondary-phase evidence required
  • Particle distribution and oxygen limits
  • Precursor or bulk-ceramic process

Quantity, samples and documents

Nike has no fixed minimum order. Tell us the quantity you need; we’ll check supplier pack sizes and any minimums.

We’ll check the proposed grade, sample options, delivery timing and available batch documents. Include any essential COA, TDS or SDS requirements.
