Rare-Earth Magnetic Alloy Powders

NdFeB and samarium-cobalt (SmCo) alloy powder sourcing. Compare composition, particle profile and the requirements of your magnetic processing route.

Sealed dark powder sample beside ring and block magnets

Which rare-earth form do you need?

The element name alone does not identify the material. Choose the chemical form first.

Browse magnetic alloy systems

Start with NdFeB or SmCo, then the grade and powder process.

Bonded NdFeB powder directions

Choose isotropic or anisotropic powder according to the intended bonded-magnet process. For an anisotropic request, include the alignment process and the conditions used for magnetic evaluation.

Isotropic bonded NdFeB magnetic powder

Magnetic grade, particle distribution, passivation and bonded process.

Nd-Fe-B alloy; grade-specific composition

Anisotropic bonded NdFeB magnetic powder

Alignment and bonded process, particle profile and magnetic test basis.

Nd-Fe-B alloy; grade-specific composition

Samarium-cobalt alloy families

Keep the 1:5 and 2:17 alloy families distinct. SmCo5 is a nominal identity; the 2:17 family can include Fe, Cu and Zr. Compare the actual grade composition, particle profile and magnetic acceptance method.

SmCo5-type alloy powder

Actual alloy composition, powder form and magnetic acceptance method.

SmCo5 nominal; actual grade to confirm

2:17-type samarium cobalt alloy powder

Actual composition, powder route, particle profile and magnetic test basis.

Sm2(Co,Fe,Cu,Zr)17 family; grade-specific

Questions before sampling

What should I send for an NdFeB powder inquiry?

Include the magnetic grade or reference datasheet, isotropic or anisotropic requirement, particle distribution, passivation and bonded-forming process. Any magnetic figures need the specimen and test conditions.

How do I specify a samarium-cobalt powder?

Start with the 1:5 or 2:17 family, then the actual grade composition and required powder form. Include the particle profile and magnetic acceptance method used by your process.

What to include in your request

A material name or reference datasheet is enough to start. Add any requirements you already know.

  • NdFeB or SmCo grade and composition basis
  • Isotropic or anisotropic powder requirement
  • Particle profile, supplied surface state and process
  • Magnetic test conditions, quantity and documents

Quantity, samples and documents

Nike has no fixed minimum order. Tell us the quantity you need; we’ll check supplier pack sizes and any minimums.

We’ll check the proposed grade, sample options, delivery timing and available batch documents. Include any essential COA, TDS or SDS requirements.
