Refractory & Rare Metals

Refractory and specialty elemental-metal powder inquiries. Build the brief around element, particle architecture and the intended processing environment.

Powder material specimens; appearance reference

Choose a material

Tungsten, molybdenum and rhenium

Identify the metal and any powder-production route requirement. Compare particle size, apparent density and compaction criteria for the intended process.

Titanium, zirconium and hafnium

Keep elemental powder distinct from alloy or compound feedstock. Include morphology and required oxygen, nitrogen or hydrogen limits with their analytical methods.

Tantalum, niobium and vanadium

Use the exact elemental identity and critical impurity limits. Spherical and irregular powders should be compared against the same process requirements.

Material selection guide

Start with the material identity and process, then check the details on the proposed datasheet.

Element & impurity limits

Identify the metal and critical interstitial or metallic impurities. An elemental powder and its carbide/oxide are different purchasing items.

Powder profile

Specify particle distribution, spherical/irregular form, flow and apparent density where required by the process.

Processing & supply

Describe compaction, sintering, additive manufacturing or research requirements, and the atmosphere, quantity and destination to be reviewed.

Before you choose

Does a spherical powder label establish AM suitability?

No. Particle distribution, flow, chemistry and equipment-specific requirements still need to be matched. Include the process and machine powder window in the brief.

What does this directory cover?

Compounds and alloys are linked separately. Any material-specific transport or trade conditions are checked for the actual inquiry.

What to include in your request

A material name or reference datasheet is enough to start. Add any requirements you already know.

  • Element, assay and critical impurity limits
  • Particle window, morphology and production route
  • Flow/density or compaction criteria
  • Process atmosphere, quantity and destination

Quantity, samples and documents

Nike has no fixed minimum order. Tell us the quantity you need; we’ll check supplier pack sizes and any minimums.

We’ll check the proposed grade, sample options, delivery timing and available batch documents. Include any essential COA, TDS or SDS requirements.
